Legacy Heritage is on a mission to save the dilapidated and long vacant lots of Montgomery Alabama and surrounding cities that contribute to the blight and unattractive scenery in some of the most historic communities while expanding generational wealth. We all are aware of the narrative of mom and dad leaving the family home to the children who then grow older and leave it to who is now the grandchildren. Unfortunately the grandchildren of black and brown individuals who sacrificed and toiled to keep not only the family home in tact but also in the family name are settling for the short lived wealth of the fast sell instead of the generational wealth of the long hold. Property in this manner is soon lost to tax liens and back taxes and are quickly bought up by developers whose sole mission is to gentrify your area and move you out.
Legacy Heritage is changing that narrative lot by lot starting in the historical community of Newtown. Our nonprofit has purchased 14 lots and counting to beautify the Northside and we want to pass on our knowledge of real estate vacant lot purchasing with other like minded individuals like you who want to save the integrity of underserved communities of color and revive the neighborhoods in the idea of the community members. Adding green spaces, recreational areas and community gardens are our number one priority.
